Frequency Spectrum

A frequency spectrum shows the magnitude of each frequency component present in a signal. Peaks indicate the dominant frequencies produced by the waveform shape.

Scale

Linear scale spaces frequencies evenly. Log scale spreads out the low frequencies so they are easier to inspect. FFT stands for Fast Fourier Transform. It is a fast way to calculate the frequency content of a sampled signal. The Nyquist limit defines the maximum frequency that can be accurately represented in a sampled signal. It is equal to half the sampling rate.
